Project aim

To automate a selection of near net shape manufacturing processes for existing component parts as a foundation for an economic and technical analysis of near net shape manufacturing processes.

Project description 

Near net shape manufacturing can significantly reduce manufacturing costs, lead times, and waste, but has been found challenging to implement for existing component parts due to the time required and volume of disparate parts.
This project uses artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the power of image recognition to offer multiple views of parts in 3D. Using this method businesses can select components more quickly, resulting in a significant reduction in costs, production time, and lead times for final manufacture.
